What is a Blocklist?
A blocklist is essentially the modern, more inclusive term for a blacklist—a database of email addresses, domains, or IP addresses that should be blocked from reaching inboxes.
The terminology shift from "blacklist" to "blocklist" reflects broader industry moves toward more inclusive language. Functionally, they're identical: both prevent emails from reaching recipients.
Note: In email deliverability, "blocklist" and "blacklist" are used interchangeably. Some organizations prefer "blocklist" for inclusivity reasons, but the mechanisms and impacts are the same.
