Four checks worth runningbefore any cold email campaign

Each of these takes a minute with a free tool on this page. The names and numbers in these views are sample data.

  1. Records

Check SPF, DKIM and DMARC for your sending domain

Enter your domain and read what each record says. SPF lists who may send for you, DKIM signs your mail, and DMARC tells inbox providers what to do when a check fails. A record that is missing or set loosely is the first thing to fix.

    • SPF. Who is allowed to send for your domain.
    • DKIM. A signature that proves the mail is yours.
    • DMARC. What happens when a check fails.
  2. Addresses

Check your list before it goes into a campaign

Paste a few addresses and see which look safe, which are risky and which are bad. Typos in the domain, addresses at domains that do not take mail and shared role inboxes are the usual problems. Remove the bad ones and think twice about the risky ones.

    • Safe. Fine to send to.
    • Risky. Role inboxes and catch-all domains.
    • Bad. Typos and domains that do not take mail.
  3. Subject

Read your subject line the way an inbox does

Type a subject line and get simple read-outs: how long it is, whether it shouts in capitals, whether it uses words that look like spam, and whether it feels written for one person. Short, plain and specific usually wins.

    • Length. Short enough to read on a phone.
    • Wording. Spammy words and capitals flagged.
    • Personal. Written for one reader.
  4. Warm-up

Plan warm-up for every new mailbox

A new mailbox needs time before it sends cold email at full speed. Work out a warm-up plan and how many mailboxes your volume needs. In FirstSales, warm-up runs for 21 days in 3 phases for every mailbox you connect, with hourly checks.

    • 21 days. Three phases of steady growth.
    • Per mailbox. Each new inbox gets its own plan.
    • Volume. Mailboxes needed for your sends.
Simple guide

How to get the most from free cold email tools.

Seven habits that turn a one-off check into fewer problems later.

  1. 01

Check records before the first send

Run the SPF, DKIM and DMARC checks on every new sending domain before it sends anything. Fixing a record later does not undo the mail that went out while it was wrong.

  2. 02

Use a separate domain for cold email

Many teams send cold email from a domain close to their main one, so their main domain stays clean. Check the records on that domain too. It needs the same care.

  3. 03

    Check every list, every time

Lists go stale. People change jobs and companies change domains. Check a list right before a campaign, not when you first got it.

  4. 04

    Write the subject line last

Write the email first, then sum it up in a few plain words. Run it through a subject line tester and cut anything that sounds like an advert.

  5. 05

    Give new mailboxes time

A new mailbox that sends a lot on day one looks like spam. Plan warm-up before you plan the campaign, and start small.

  6. 06

Use calculators as a starting point

A calculator gives you a sensible first number. Your own results will move it. Write down what you assumed so you can check it later.

  7. 07

Run the check again after a fix

DNS changes can take time to show up, and a small typo can undo a fix. Always run the check again once you have made a change.

Before your next campaign

Ten things to check

Each one takes a minute or two with a tool on this page.

  • SPF record is set and lists every sender you use
  • DKIM is set up and signing your mail
  • DMARC record exists, even if it starts at p=none
  • Sending domain is not on a blocklist
  • New mailboxes have a warm-up plan
  • You know how many mailboxes your volume needs
  • Your list has been checked for bad addresses
  • Role inboxes are removed or kept on purpose
  • Subject line is short, plain and specific
  • Copy has been read for spammy words

Yes. Every tool on this page is free to use. You do not need an account, and there is nothing to install.

Install with AI

Your coding agent sets up the FirstSales CLI and skills for you.

Prompt for Claude Code

I'm setting up FirstSales (https://firstsales.io), an AI outbound sales platform: campaigns, contacts, a reply inbox, deliverability and lead signals. Help me get my workspace sending real, good emails end to end, from Claude Code.

Read these first so you know how FirstSales works:
- Developer docs and API: https://developer.firstsales.io
- CLI: https://www.npmjs.com/package/@firstsales.io/cli
- Skills for coding agents: https://github.com/firstsalesio/firstsales-skills (read README.md and GUIDE.md)

Setup
1. Install the CLI: npm install -g @firstsales.io/cli
2. Install the FirstSales skills:
   claude plugin marketplace add firstsalesio/firstsales-skills
   claude plugin install firstsales@firstsales
3. Ask me if I already have a FirstSales account. If not, send me to https://app.firstsales.io to sign up.
4. Ask me to create an API key under Settings → API → API Keys, with only the scopes we need.
Never ask me to paste the key into this chat. Tell me to run this in my own terminal, so the key stays hidden:
   read -rs FS_KEY && firstsales auth login --api-key "$FS_KEY"; unset FS_KEY
5. Run `firstsales whoami` and tell me which workspace and organisation we are connected to.

Then ask me about my business: what I sell, who I sell to (roles, company size, countries), my best customers, and what I use today for outbound (tools, lists, mailboxes). Walk me through:
1. Teaching FirstSales my business: website, offer, proof points and case studies in the knowledge base, so the AI writes like someone who knows the product.
2. Connecting my sending mailboxes and checking my sending domain: SPF, DKIM, DMARC and warm-up. If anything is unhealthy, tell me the exact DNS record to add.
3. Bringing in contacts: import my CSV or CRM export into a clean list, remove duplicates and bad emails, and block domains I must never email (customers, competitors, my own).
4. Building my first campaign: the right list, senders, steps and timing. Write the sequence with me, show me the drafts, and do not launch until I say yes.
5. Setting up Signals if it fits: find people engaging with LinkedIn posts about topics my buyers care about, and turn them into leads.
6. Inviting my team and giving each person the right access.

Once campaigns run, show me how to work the reply inbox from here: which replies need an answer, draft responses in my voice, and move good conversations into deals. If I use Cal.com, connect it so follow-ups can offer my booking link (not the first email).

Throughout, as you learn about my business, proactively suggest and help create:
- Reply templates for the questions and objections my prospects are likely to raise, based on my product, site and codebase if you can see them.
- Campaign ideas and segments worth testing, with the reason for each.

Safety rules:
- Show every change as a dry run (--dry-run) first and wait for my yes. Never send emails, launch campaigns or delete anything without my yes.
- Tell me before anything that spends credits, and how many.

Be opinionated. If the docs give a sensible default, just use it. Don't make me choose between five options.
