Signals

# Signals finds the people already talking about your problem on LinkedIn.

Pick the topics, people and companies to watch. Signals finds who comments on or likes those posts, scores each person with a short reason and shows their comment in their own words. You start with the best, while the conversation is still fresh.

The problem

## A cold list does not know who cares right now.

Most lead lists tell you who fits on paper. They cannot tell you who is thinking about your problem this week. That gap is where good outreach goes cold.

### Right title, wrong moment

A list built from job titles and company size is full of people who fit and do not care today. You write to all of them and hear back from few.

### The best leads are in the comments

When someone comments on a post about the problem you solve, they are telling you what is on their mind. Most of that is never seen by the people who could help.

### Watching LinkedIn by hand eats the day

Scrolling feeds, opening posts, reading every comment and copying names into a sheet takes hours, and you still miss most of it.

How it works

## Three steps from a topic to a scored list.

You choose what to watch and how much to spend. Signals does the watching.

1. 01
### Start a signal in the campaign builder
Open the campaign builder and pick Signals, next to AI Autopilot and Email Template. Add the keywords, people or companies to watch. One signal can watch several.
2. 02
### Set your daily credit budget
Each scan uses credits. You set the most a signal may spend in a day, and it never goes over that number.
3. 03
### Open the Leads tab and start at the top
The people who commented on or liked those posts land on your Signals page, each with a score and a short reason. Start with the best and work down.

What you see

## One person, one row, and the reason they are there.

Every lead on your Signals page answers the same three questions before you read a profile: who is this, what did they do, and why should I start with them?

A person from your market 01

Their role and company

05 A LinkedIn post about the topic you watch 06 Found by

1. 01 Lead
### Who they are
Name, role and company, so you can tell at a glance if this person fits who you sell to.
2. 02 Score
### Where to start
Every person gets a score, so the best fits rise to the top and you do not read the list in random order.
3. 03 Reason
### Why they scored that way
A short reason sits next to every score. You can agree, disagree and move on in seconds.
4. 04 Engagement
### What they actually did
A like, or a comment shown in their own words. A comment tells you what is on their mind today.
5. 05 Post
### Where it happened
The post they reacted to, so you know the topic and the conversation they joined.
6. 06 Found by
### Which signal found them
If you run more than one signal, you see which one brought each person in, and when.

What you get

## Reach people who just showed interest, not people who fit a filter.

Signals turns public conversations into a short, ranked list of people worth your time.

* ### Start with people who care
Everyone on the list just reacted to a post about your topic. That is a better first line than any job title.
* ### Know who to read first
Scores put the best fits at the top. You spend your first hour on your best leads, not on the alphabet.
* ### Write about what they said
You see their comment in their own words. Your first message can answer it, instead of guessing what they care about.
* ### Check every score
A short reason sits next to each score. If you disagree, skip the person. Nothing is hidden behind a number.
* ### Spend what you planned
Scans use credits, and each signal stays inside the daily credit budget you set. No surprise bills from a busy topic.
* ### Stay in one app
Signals lives inside FirstSales, next to your campaigns, contacts and inbox. No extra tool, no extra login.

## Four parts of Signals, in plain words

What you set up, what Signals finds, how it ranks people and what it costs.

1. Watch
### Tell it what to watch
A signal is a list of things to follow on LinkedIn. Pick keywords for the topics your buyers post about, people whose posts they read, or companies they follow.
   * Keywords, people or companies. Use one kind, or mix all three in the same signal.
   * One signal, several targets. Group related topics in one signal instead of making ten.
   * Started from the campaign builder. Signals sits next to AI Autopilot and Email Template.

2. Find
### It finds who comments and who likes
Signals looks at posts that match what you watch and finds the people who reacted to them. A like is a light signal. A comment is a strong one, and you see it word for word.
   * Comments and likes. Both are found. Each person shows how they engaged.
   * Their words, not a summary. Comments appear as the person wrote them.
   * The post next to the person. You see which post they reacted to and when they were found.

3. Score
### Every person scored, with a reason
A list of hundreds of names is only useful in the right order. Signals gives each person a score and a short reason, so you start with the best and can check the logic.
   * A score per person. Sort by it and start at the top.
   * A short reason per score. Plain words, so you can agree or skip in seconds.
   * Export when you need to. Download the list as a CSV from the Leads tab.

4. Budget
### Credits you control
Each scan uses credits from your plan. You set a daily credit budget for each signal, and scans stop at that line. A busy topic cannot run away with your month.
   * A daily credit budget per signal. You pick the number. It never goes over.
   * Credits from your plan. The same credits you use across FirstSales.

## Keywords, people or companies. One signal can watch several.

A signal is a short list of things to watch on LinkedIn. Mix them. The examples below are ideas to copy, not presets.

Keywords

### Topics your buyers talk about

Watch posts about the problem you solve, the job your buyer does or the words they use when it hurts.

Good for

* Finding people who name the problem out loud
* Markets where buyers post openly about their work
* Testing a new angle before you write a campaign

Example: cold email deliverability · outbound for founders · sales hiring

People

### Voices your buyers follow

Watch the posts of people your buyers listen to: well-known operators, writers, hosts and peers in your space.

Good for

* Reaching the audience of someone they trust
* Niches where a few voices lead the talk
* Finding people who comment, not only scroll

Example: A founder who writes about outbound · a podcast host in your niche

Companies

### Brands your buyers watch

Watch posts from companies your buyers care about, including your own company page.

Good for

* People who react to your own company’s posts
* Fans of products that sit next to yours
* Following one account list closely

Example: Your company page · a tool your buyers already use

See it in the app

## The Signals page, with sample data.

This is the real FirstSales app in the sample workspace. Open Signals, go to the Leads tab and you see each person with their score, the reason, how they engaged and the post they reacted to.

* Scores you can sort. Best fits first, with a short reason for each.
* Comments in full. Read what each person said before you write to them.
* Filters that matter. Narrow by engagement, by the signal that found them and by date found.
* Export CSV. Take the list with you when you need it somewhere else.

> “If you are looking to fix your sales pipeline, you should definitely try \[it\]. My open rate has increased drastically. The UI and UX are easy to understand, even for a beginner like me.”

Before and after

## Finding warm leads, before and after Signals

What changes when the watching runs on its own.

By hand

Scrolling LinkedIn and copying names.

* You scroll feeds for hours Finding the right posts is a job by itself.
* You read every comment Most of them are not your buyer.
* You copy names into a sheet Typing, tabs and lost context.
* Every name looks the same No order, so you start at the top of the sheet.
* Context gets lost By the time you write, you forgot what they said.
* It stops when you stop A busy week means nobody is watching.

With Signals

A scored list, inside the app.

* You pick what to watch once Keywords, people or companies, in one signal.
* Signals finds who reacted Comments and likes, collected for you.
* People land on your Signals page In the same app as your campaigns.
* Everyone is scored Best fits first, each with a short reason.
* Their words stay next to their name Read the comment right before you write.
* Spend stays capped Each signal stays inside its daily credit budget.

Why it is different

Plain guide

## How to turn a comment into a conversation.

Signals finds the people. What you do next decides whether they write back. Here is what works, in plain words.

1. 01
### Why engagement beats a cold list
A job title tells you someone could buy. A comment tells you they are thinking about the problem now. Timing is the hardest part of cold outreach, and a recent reaction to a post about your topic is one of the few public clues you get. It does not mean they want to buy. It means they will recognise the subject when you write.
2. 02
### Pick topics your buyer posts about, not your product name
People rarely post the name of a product category. They post about the pain: a hiring problem, a missed target, a tool that let them down. Watch the words your buyer uses when the problem hurts. If you are unsure, read ten posts in your market and note the phrases that keep coming back. Those make good keywords.
3. 03
### Watch people your buyers listen to
In many markets a handful of voices lead the conversation. Their posts gather comments from exactly the people you want to reach. Adding those people to a signal finds an audience that already chose to engage with your topic, without you having to guess the keywords.
4. 04
### Read the reason before you trust the score
A score is a shortcut, not a verdict. The short reason beside it tells you why Signals ranked a person high or low. Read a few at the top and the bottom of the list. If the logic matches how you think about your buyer, trust the order. If not, adjust what you watch.
5. 05
### Mention the conversation, not the surveillance
Nobody likes to feel watched. Do not open with “I saw you liked a post”. Open with the topic: their point of view, a question about it or something useful you know. If they left a comment, answer the thought, not the fact that they posted it. Keep it short and about them.
6. 06
### Move fast, but do not rush
A conversation is freshest in the days after the post. Work the top of your list soon after people are found. Speed matters less than relevance, though: one thoughtful note to the right person beats twenty fast ones to everyone who liked a post.
7. 07
### Set a budget you are happy to spend every day
A broad keyword on a busy topic can find a lot of people. That is useful, but only if you have time to work the list. Start with a small daily credit budget and a narrow signal. Raise it once you see the quality of the people it finds and how many you can really follow up.

Before you start

## A ten-point check for your first signal

Five minutes here saves a week of reading the wrong list.

* You can describe your buyer in one sentence
* You picked words your buyer uses, not your product category
* You added two or three people your buyers listen to
* You added your own company page as a target
* Related topics sit in one signal, not ten
* A daily credit budget is set that you are happy to spend
* You read the reasons on the top ten leads before writing
* Your first message is about their point, not their like
* You work the newest leads first
* After a week, you drop the targets that found the wrong people

## Questions, answered plainly.

Can’t find yours? [Write to us](/contact/).

01 What is FirstSales Signals?

Signals watches LinkedIn posts about the topics, people and companies you pick. It finds the people who comment on or like them, and scores each one with a short reason so you start with the best.

02 What can a signal watch?

Keywords, people or companies. One signal can watch several of them at once, so you can group related topics instead of making many signals.

03 Where do I find Signals?

Start it from the campaign builder, next to AI Autopilot and Email Template. The people it finds appear on your Signals page, in the Leads tab.

04 How is each person scored?

Every person gets a score and a short reason in plain words. Sort by score to start with the best fits, and read the reason to check the logic.

05 How much does Signals cost?

Each scan uses credits from your plan. You set a daily credit budget for each signal, and it never spends more than that in a day.

06 Which plans include Signals?

Signals is on paid plans only. Plans start at $29/mo, and you can try FirstSales for $1 for 3 days. See the pricing page for what each plan includes.

07 Can I take the list out of FirstSales?

Yes. The Leads tab has an Export CSV button, so you can download the people Signals found.

08 Who is Signals not for?

If your buyers never post or comment on LinkedIn, Signals will find few people. It works best in markets where buyers talk about their work in public.

## Outreach that keeps going after you log off. Leads, emails, follow-ups and replies, handled.

## Install with AI

Your coding agent sets up the FirstSales CLI and skills for you.

Prompt for Claude Code

I'm setting up FirstSales (https://firstsales.io), an AI outbound sales platform: campaigns, contacts, a reply inbox, deliverability and lead signals. Help me get my workspace sending real, good emails end to end, from Claude Code.

Read these first so you know how FirstSales works:
- Developer docs and API: https://developer.firstsales.io
- CLI: https://www.npmjs.com/package/@firstsales.io/cli
- Skills for coding agents: https://github.com/firstsalesio/firstsales-skills (read README.md and GUIDE.md)

Setup
1. Install the CLI: npm install -g @firstsales.io/cli
2. Install the FirstSales skills:
   claude plugin marketplace add firstsalesio/firstsales-skills
   claude plugin install firstsales@firstsales
3. Ask me if I already have a FirstSales account. If not, send me to https://app.firstsales.io to sign up.
4. Ask me to create an API key under Settings → API → API Keys, with only the scopes we need.
Never ask me to paste the key into this chat. Tell me to run this in my own terminal, so the key stays hidden:
   read -rs FS_KEY && firstsales auth login --api-key "$FS_KEY"; unset FS_KEY
5. Run `firstsales whoami` and tell me which workspace and organisation we are connected to.

Then ask me about my business: what I sell, who I sell to (roles, company size, countries), my best customers, and what I use today for outbound (tools, lists, mailboxes). Walk me through:
1. Teaching FirstSales my business: website, offer, proof points and case studies in the knowledge base, so the AI writes like someone who knows the product.
2. Connecting my sending mailboxes and checking my sending domain: SPF, DKIM, DMARC and warm-up. If anything is unhealthy, tell me the exact DNS record to add.
3. Bringing in contacts: import my CSV or CRM export into a clean list, remove duplicates and bad emails, and block domains I must never email (customers, competitors, my own).
4. Building my first campaign: the right list, senders, steps and timing. Write the sequence with me, show me the drafts, and do not launch until I say yes.
5. Setting up Signals if it fits: find people engaging with LinkedIn posts about topics my buyers care about, and turn them into leads.
6. Inviting my team and giving each person the right access.

Once campaigns run, show me how to work the reply inbox from here: which replies need an answer, draft responses in my voice, and move good conversations into deals. If I use Cal.com, connect it so follow-ups can offer my booking link (not the first email).

Throughout, as you learn about my business, proactively suggest and help create:
- Reply templates for the questions and objections my prospects are likely to raise, based on my product, site and codebase if you can see them.
- Campaign ideas and segments worth testing, with the reason for each.

Safety rules:
- Show every change as a dry run (--dry-run) first and wait for my yes. Never send emails, launch campaigns or delete anything without my yes.
- Tell me before anything that spends credits, and how many.

Be opinionated. If the docs give a sensible default, just use it. Don't make me choose between five options.
